Softies for the children of Christchurch

Following the earthquake in New Zealand, Leonie from Kiwi At Heart has come up with a great initiative to get creative people involved. The idea is to make a special handmade soft-toy for a child who's been affected by the earthquake. For more information click here or on the image above.

One of my little monsters is already on its way to New Zealand. I hope it'll help putting a smile on a child's face.

DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE...

Here I am at Deacon Brodie's Tavern, the place to go for the best haggis in town (so they claim). If you wish to try haggis and don't know what it is, I strongly recommend that you avoid reading the explanation before you actually eat it...

The tavern is named after Deacon Brodie, a Scottish cabinet-maker who had a double life: during the day he was a respectable tradesman, but at night he became a burglar and thief. He inspired R. L. Stevenson's famous book "The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde".

AROUND THE ROYAL MILE

Here I am again, having a stroll around the Royal Mile. In the background you can see St. Giles' Cathedral.

And this is a view of Victoria Street, with its charming little shops and restaurants.

"LA BOCA" CRAFT FAIR

It's been a busy weekend. Unfortunately the weather has been very unkind to us, especially on Saturday. Sunday was much better, the sun was shining and Lavapiés came to life.

It was nice meeting new people, being amongst fellow-creators and seeing what they're up to. I especially liked the screen printed second-hand clothes by Argentinian designer Natalia - nA and the original jewellery of Madrid designer Laura - lala be you - and Venezuelan artist Gabriela - mora mora design.

ZANY by ZANI AT "LA BOCA" CRAFT FAIR

From Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th of June I shall participate in "La Boca" Craft Fair in Madrid. The market will take place in Calle de Argumosa, 11 in the lively barrio of Lavapiés.

For those of you who can make it, here are the opening times:
Thu 10th & Fri 11th: 7:00pm to 11:00pm
Sat 12th: 12:00pm to 11:00pm
Sun 13th: 12:00pm to 10:00pm

NEW T-SHIRT

Lately I decided to take a screenprinting course to refresh my memory on this technique and get back into the swing of creating. The course took place at Hola Por Qué studio and I really enjoyed it.

This is the first T-shirt that I produced. More to come.

Artistas con Corazón is back! This year I'll participate with 2 of my monsters that are on their way to Santander as I write this post.

Hope the exhibition will be as successful as last year as all the money raised will go to cancer research.

ÍÑIGO AND HIS MONSTER

... it was love at first sight.

Íñigo designed the monster (on a paper napkin) and I made it especially for him. I believed he liked his wee monster as he didn't let go of him for the entire evening. He named him Floppy.

So here they are, the two cheeky monsters posing for the camera: Íñigo and Floppy.

The second issue of Stuffed, a magazine entirely dedicated to softies which is about to hit the shelves, features three of my monsters. I'm so proud to see my little creatures in the magazine. Hope this is just the beginning...

BRUNO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Bruno was adopted yesterday and is now on his way to Missouri, USA.

Hope he'll have a safe journey and that he'll like his new home.

OLÉ, ¡VIVA ESPAÑA!

Olé was born in Spain. He's passionate about flamenco and loves tortilla, you can tell by his belly!

He was made using wool fabric, cotton, trimmings and vintage buttons.

He's available in my etsy shop.

This is One. One was born in Spain, but he moved to Milan, Italy, where he's found a new home!
